About the Council

The Osteopathic Council was established by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act)

The HPCA Act established a number of authorities that are responsible for the registration and oversight of those practising one of the health professions regulated by the Act. The health professions include eleven that were already regulated by existing legislation and four additional health professions, including osteopathy.

What is the process for appointment of Council Members?

Members are appointed by the Minister of Health.  Before making the appointments, the Minister must publish a notice inviting nominations.  Information on nominations can be obtained from the Account Manager - Committees in the Corporate Services Directorate of the Ministry of Health.
